"Our Song"

I'm house sitting right now. More importantly, I'm cat sitting.

It's stressful for these little guys, as they just had to move to a brand new house and not even a week in, their mommy leaves for a two week trip to China.

One thing that keeps them company when the peoples are away is that their mommy likes to keep the radio or music on so they're not always alone. I've had the iPod on for them to listen.

Their mommy and I kind of have "our song" which makes me think of her when I hear it, and makes her think of me when she hears it.

This song came up not long ago, and when I started singing along with the song, I had kitties run to me and meowing. Maybe they know it's our song, and makes them miss their mommy.

Either way, I think it's the most adorable thing ever!

My heart asplode.

Smellme

Smelling like the sun is, for the most part, not a pleasant smell.

Usually, when it's your own smell like the sun, combined with cool breezes and some salt breezed in your hair, it smells awesome.

Hold You in My Arms...I Just Wanted to Hold

Working in a place where they don't pay for parking is a bummer, and I'm cheap and poor enough to not want to have to pay for parking, so I go to great lengths not to.

Having to move my car from an area that starts street sweeping to another place for the last hour and a half I have at work seems like nonsense, but at least I get a minute out of the office (even when I can't afford to do so), and other moments of wonderful happen upon me.

As I was approaching my car, I passed by a car lot with an attendant, who had his radio blasting pretty loud. And for that, I was happy and it made my day, and really should have slowed my pace as it was playing this:

Muse, play and save the world, but at least save my sanity.

This Month's Moment of Zen

BLACK CAT ON MY TRAIL

:3

There's nothing like neighborhood tuxies coming from afar to be all cuddly.

As I sit here thinking about the previous sentence, it's taking a lot of normal person of society behavior restraint to stop me from 'sploding from cute and going crazy and thinking, "WAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH, I want to go walking and have cute, collared tuxie kitty following me around on my walk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" *dies*

I mean, I'd otherwise allow myself to do that, but I'm currently sitting in a leather chair at a Honda dealership, and I don't think it would be good for their business. I'm not going to involve myself in any funny business...I came here to get my car tuned up, not down.

Why I Need to Get Out More =or= I'm a Big Nerd

Today's Moment of Zen is the magical use of mail merge, and that you can email merge as well. It blows BCC totally out of the water, especially with its personalize each email.

I don't want to say I can do this stuff all day, but man, it sure makes me happy right now.

Today's Moment of Zen

Or, what I wouldn't mind doing of the rest of my life.

It's also a testament of why I love my friends so much, because we talk about things that are crazy and silly, but are totally awesome and uses the power of the internet to prove that we're not so crazy and silly talking about them.

Some of you may have not seen Human Tetris yet, and that was evidenced by the fact that my two friends didn't know what I was talking about when I was squealing with joy when it came on the TV I was watching when we were at a Chinese cafe in Monterey Park.

They were completely enamored by it. So much in fact, one of them sat on my side of the table so he could watch the next round of human tetris that came on.

Then discussion started about how cool it would be to make a version of that for house parties, and we discussed the logistics behind that. Then the question came up on how we could find silver unitards for the finishing touches (unfortunately, our "guaranteed" easy pick is only halfway there). One was amazed that a place would actually make metallic leotards, and the other confirmed it, and that they came in several colors. At that point, I started chuckling, because I knew it was true and started chuckling, visualizing me and my friends all in different colored metallic unitards in my friend's parents' backyard trying to pass through interestingly cut pieces of foamcore. Then I just imagined my friends in different colored metallic unitards walking around, which made me chuckle even more. Then I shared that I thought it would be the best thing to make a photo series.

Maybe I can have my friends in different colored metallic unitards and shoot them doing random things, and for some reason, across the table, it was suggested that they could be tending to the basil, watering the lawn, for she was imagining this happening in her parents' backyard, so she was working with what was there. I thought people in different colored metallic unitards (hereinafter, DCMU even though I'm sure this will be the last time I refer to them), doing things that people wouldn't expect people in DCMU's doing, like, tending to a vegetable garden, would be pretty fun. It could be titled, "This is the Future."

Anyway, this collection of images totally trumps any of those ideas that were cooked up last night. I'd provide some teaser images to get you to click, but I feel like I'd be spoiling the amazing. Just trust me and click.

It reminds me of this artist who makes realistic paintings from childrens' drawings

When it Rains, it Pours, but when it Ices...?

This is today's moment of Zen.

This day started off literally shitty, and then it went downhill from there.

But a bad day can usually be remedied by something pretty cute/cool/awesome or the combination of the bunch.

Not that I would really want to live in an area that gets ice storms, but if it means I can witness first hand what a botanical garden (which are beautiful already), looks like after an ice storm, maybe I'll take a visit:

Stuff like this helps.

Today's Moment of Zen

Today's been a rather stressful day, and tomorrow's not going to get any easier. But as soon as I left work, things were just going my way, or at least the littlest things are making me happy.

I stopped by the grocery store to buy some water and replace a bag of chips I polished off that Nat had bought, and as an impluse (and I was hungry and crav-y, bought another bag of chips. Upon checkout, I told the gal I didn't want a bag, and she told me that I should have been there sooner, because they were giving away canvas bags all day but just ran out. I thought that was cute. She then told me that the reason they were doing it was because they were going to stop using plastic bags in about a month! Wow! Now, not to diss my area, but I really didn't think my neighborhood would adopt such a thing right away, and the city hasn't even passed or enforced such legislation!

But today's moment of zen is this Free Craigslist ad I ran into:

It got a "best of Craigslist" flag.

I am completely enamored by the fact this little girl has a birthday party that seemed to go real well, and instead of keeping her special balloon with all her favorite princesses on it, she wants to give it away for another little girl to enjoy. Just as endearing, if not more is the fact that her parent(s) actually went about to actually seek out another little girl to have her turn in enjoying the balloon. I can see so many parents not want to go through the hassle to acquiesce to their daughter's request and deflate the thing and toss it in the trash, but I could imagine that any little girl who is as giving as this girl is, must have picked it up somewhere, right?

I hope (and am pretty sure) I am wrong when I say it's hard to find people like that. It really gets you "right 'ere" and the black-hearted cynic in you just dies for the day.

Of course I know that this kind of generosity in this world is extinct, after all, there's whole websites devoted to giving.

Speaking of, I need to get caught up with this challenge...

BEST THING IN THE WORLD (Today's Moment of Zen, Part II)

KITTY! (taken from itty bitty kitty committee)

This is ultimate 'splode from cute if I've ever seen it.

It looks like a tortie, and she's so cute! Look at the little kitty fur on her nose! High contrast whiskers!!! TEENY PAWS!!! I love tiny kitten ears that look like sea lion ear flaps! Her eyes aren't even open and she still has her umbilical cord!

What endears this image to me more than anything is the fact that this is pretty much the age that we found Mia, complete with umbilical cord and complete blindness. She was all squealy and once squealed herself raspy when we didn't feed her in time (we ran out of kitty formula), and despite all that, she wound up surviving our rearing and is now the sassy bag o' donuts she is today.

I honestly do not see how people cannot like kitties. They must have hearts of stone.

Today's Moment of Zen

I might be going to hell, but this gave me a hearty laugh just now:

click to look at more of these!

I may be going to Hell because I found a lot of these to be funny. If you don't know if you're going to Hell, click on the link and if you think they're funny, then you're there. If you already know you're well on your way, then by all means, click for the laughs.

Today's Moment of Zen

Just when I thought I've seen the cutest kitty vids, I'm shown even cuter ones:

If you don't think this is cute, well then YOU HAVE NO SOUL.

Sound is not necessary, but if you listen closely, it just makes the video even more endearing.

Today's Moment of Zen

Today's Moment of Zen is brought to you by the fact that I'm kind of psychic. And I'm actually not kidding about that.

This goes beyond feeling people's vibes and impressions of people, but I have this kind of hapless psychic-ish ability. I always had this knack of calling my best friend RIGHT when he got home, or emailed him right when he was at his computer checking mail. I also have this impeccable timing when I feel like I need to call someone, whether I've talked to them recently or not, and when I do, they answer and tell me that they were JUST about to call them!

As I mentioned in my previous post, I was planning on going to M-town to visit the family that was largely absent from the house during my attempt to do so on Saturday, and had warned my sister of my coming, regardless of whether she'd be reading my blog before that time came. So I decided to call the house and ask if I should pick up food or make plans to go out and get food for dinner when I'm there, and my sister picks up and is all freaked out, because she had just read my warning to her when the phone started ringing, and IT WAS MEEEEEEEEE!

Is all this coincidence? Maybe so! But I'll still say I'm kind of psychic, and this is my blog, and you can't tell me anything otherwise. So there my Moment of Zen.

Today's Moment of Zen

No kitty vid this time, but a quick exchange with my boss via email.

Her:

Subject: did hothouse application get mailed?

Just Checking.
Thanks!

My reply:
Yes.

5 Minutes Later:
Thanks. Corazon!

I'm just tickled when my name is exclaimed like that, I guess. Something like, "Hey. HOORAY!"

Reason Why I'm Going to Hell

I've been actually planning on doing this for some time, and have half a post written about this subject, but that entry is a little involved.

I already know I'm going to Hell. There are the given reasons why, such as being a baptized Catholic who never goes to church or hasn't even officially got her first communion (that's bad in itself, right?), I own several music albums that have been burned for me, and I can't guarantee that I wouldn't covet my neighbor's wife if either one of them actually had one. But there are lots of other reasons, from the really mean to the mundane, that have me convinced that gives me another stamp towards getting that express ticket to Eternal Damnation.

So here's my first reason in this series.

One reason I'm going to Hell is because this email made me laugh:
Subject: How the fight started

HOW THE FIGHT STARTED

I rear-ended a car this morning.

So, there we are alongside the road and slowly the driver gets out of the car . . . and you know how you just get sooooo stressed and life-stuff seems to get funny?

Yeah, well, I could NOT believe it . . . he was a DWARF!

He storms over to my car, looks up at me and says, 'I AM NOT HAPPY!'

So, I look down at him and simply say, 'Well, which one are you then?'

. . . and that's when the fight started . . .

Yes, little people are people just like me and you, just smaller. They go through all the same emotions and feelings that everyone else does on the same scale. So where is the humor in the fact that someone got in a car accident? I don't think anyone would be happy to get into one, even IF your name is Happy, right?

I say I get 1-2 stamps for this one.

Thanks to Nikki for sending me the email.

Today's Moment of Zen

I have a feeling today won't be so bad. I've been invited to attend the board meeting for my work today, and I feel very honored that my boss would like me to be involved with that. Then again, we're having lots of problems with our board.

Either way, one can never have enough of cute kitty vids, particularly when it's of kitties eating things they otherwise wouldn't:

Makes me want one now.

Yes, I mean the lollipop and the kitty.

Thanks to Greg for this video.
