The Inside of an Explosion

Once upon a time, when I had a blog that I actually wrote in on a regular basis, I had mentioned that I wondered what the inside of an explosion would look like, and how much I'd want to see that.

Knowing my friends, I got the expected "That's so dirty" comment and all, but I really wasn't joking.

I was driving home from work one day, and as I made the turn to my block where there's a bit of an incline, the thought just struck me...what if my car were to just spontaneously combust right before my eyes, starting at the middle of the dashboard out? What would it look like to be inside of an explosion? Would it make a sound? How bright would it be? What would it be like to be completely enveloped in one? I was fully aware that were I to actually witness such a phenomena, I wouldn't be able to write about it, but that didn't stop me from thinking what that would look like.

The only reason I bring it up is because I ran into this website that features artist Marc Chiat's work of blowing up stuffed animals.

It's not exactly being able to see inside an explosion, but the above image made me think that it could be possible without actually having to be in an explosion.

Either way, you should totally check out the site. The flash is used well here, and it's fun to mouse over each animal and get a preview of their destruction (click for still images and a larger video clip). My favorite is the second row of fuzzies, but the monkey really gets it good.

Speaking of monkeys getting their heads blown off, have you ever had a dream where someone's going to shoot you? I had a dream the other day, where I was being held captive with some other people, and the person with the gun was actually going to shoot me in the head. Like, it was going to happen, and had the gun pointed at my head and had his finger on the trigger and was going to pull. There might have been some sort of intervention or distraction at some point, but at that moment, I was looking down the barrel of my own death. Who has dreams like that and what do they mean?

This happened to me. I was being held captive with my dad in the back house by several people. We were tied onto chairs except I freed myself and I think I sacrificed myself for my dad perhaps?

Anyway, I was shot two or three times in the middle back and I felt each shot. It hurt.

Did you wake up long after? How disturbing. I don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing I forgot whether I actually was shot in the head.

I woke up soon after being shot. I was definitely shot, though. Dreams may as well be real as long as you're in them.

I read they're an evolutionary aspect whose purpose is to acclimate you to pain/hardships/blah in real life. I guess I can take a couple bullets to the back now.

I guess I could use another hole in the head right now.
