Today's Moment of Zen

Today's been a rather stressful day, and tomorrow's not going to get any easier. But as soon as I left work, things were just going my way, or at least the littlest things are making me happy.

I stopped by the grocery store to buy some water and replace a bag of chips I polished off that Nat had bought, and as an impluse (and I was hungry and crav-y, bought another bag of chips. Upon checkout, I told the gal I didn't want a bag, and she told me that I should have been there sooner, because they were giving away canvas bags all day but just ran out. I thought that was cute. She then told me that the reason they were doing it was because they were going to stop using plastic bags in about a month! Wow! Now, not to diss my area, but I really didn't think my neighborhood would adopt such a thing right away, and the city hasn't even passed or enforced such legislation!

But today's moment of zen is this Free Craigslist ad I ran into:

It got a "best of Craigslist" flag.

I am completely enamored by the fact this little girl has a birthday party that seemed to go real well, and instead of keeping her special balloon with all her favorite princesses on it, she wants to give it away for another little girl to enjoy. Just as endearing, if not more is the fact that her parent(s) actually went about to actually seek out another little girl to have her turn in enjoying the balloon. I can see so many parents not want to go through the hassle to acquiesce to their daughter's request and deflate the thing and toss it in the trash, but I could imagine that any little girl who is as giving as this girl is, must have picked it up somewhere, right?

I hope (and am pretty sure) I am wrong when I say it's hard to find people like that. It really gets you "right 'ere" and the black-hearted cynic in you just dies for the day.

Of course I know that this kind of generosity in this world is extinct, after all, there's whole websites devoted to giving.

Speaking of, I need to get caught up with this challenge...

I actually emailed the posting, just to say how that post made my day and how I think it was absolutely adorable. I got a response and he really appreciated the comment and that it meant a lot.
