Heartache vs. Heartbreak by Ozma
Album version (with Rachel singing female vocals):
Live version (with Star singing female vocals):
I really do love Rachel Hayden's voice, and for some reason, I just love the songs she sings for bands I really like and they need a female voice for the song. Such was the case with Weezer. Rachel Hayden has worked with Ozma for several of their songs, but she was never the only vocals for the song.
I like both versions. It was amazing seeing Dan and Star perform the song live as part of their encore for their record release show. I guess since I kind of know what when on that led to the making of the song that makes it so powerful, especially when Ozma released it on MySpace. As soon as we heard it, Natilie and I both loved the song, but thought it was so sad, because we knew what inspiration was drawn from it. Seeing Dan and Star sing it makes it just as powerful. I guess I'm also very proud of Star stepping up and singing and being more than do just keyboards and very adorable and sometimes flute.
But I also love the studio version with Rachel's voice.
Either way, I think it's a great song.
