You Have Got to be KIDDING ME!!!

Earlier this month, one of the computers here at work was found to be chock-full of viruses, spyware, malware, etc. on top of all the instant messaging programs and other stuff. When our IT guy (who costs $$$/hour) found this out, our Finance Director went batshit. She sent an email to almost everyone in the building, citing our employee handbook that we absolutely cannot use our work computers for personal use, especially if one were to download ANYTHING to the computers. That means no instant messaging, emailing eBaying, Yelping, etc. She then emailed the people of the department whose computer works for giving a passive-aggressive reprimand. Both emails had lots of scare tactics in place; stating that they could track who downloaded what program and when. One of my jobs is part of that department it affected, and when I replied to her email voicing my concerns on the matter, it almost seemed as though she was partly putting me at fault for doing such things at both my jobs. Ironic is that for the department that was at fault for this witch hunt, I actually use my personal computer.

That aside, I just overheard a conversation from our Finance Director. A small handful of my coworkers are getting brand new computers installed, and one of my coworkers who's getting one was marveling at the fact that she'll have speakers to listen to things. Our Finance Director, who is installing the computers, was raving how you can install iTunes and upload music to your computer, how to transfer music from one computer to another, etc. etc., how great it is, blah blah blah.

It took a lot of effort for not to call SHENANIGANS right then and there, but then again, it's not polite to overhear other peoples' conversations.
