#2 of Thing You May Not Know About Me:
I really like the Olympics.
And it especially broke my heart that I missed out on a great deal of the last one, when it was in GREECE!
I suppose it doesn't take one big stretch of the imagination to figure out I would, for I'm a big Classics fiend and I do like watching me some sports. In particular, I love watching Swimming, Track & Field, Gymnastics, and if I can catch it, Soccer. Weightlifting is pretty interesting to watch, too...oh, who am I kidding? I love the Olympics, and I thought it was the greatest thing that my uncle had a satellite dish back in '92 and had the Olympic Channel that had events 24/7, whether it was live or not, I love it that much. It even got me inspired to actually challenge my physically-induced asthmatic self to train and run a marathon during the last go around.
Although I'm throwing in the bedtime towel at this time, I do have several thoughts about my expectations for this Olympics and my thoughts on the Opening Ceremony. The Ceremony was pretty, and it got me really excited for the next 16 days (here's hoping I can actually follow it this time around), though I have a lot of mixed feelings about it with all the political strife going on in the world, with the Koreas, Iraq, Iran, China (obviously), Sudan, and most recently, Russia and Georgia.
The official Olympic song is in Greek, I say that maybe make like the Ancients and put a halt to fighting during this time of peace.
