Not long ago, I was joking about the posh-ish, beach city of Santa Barbara having gangs. As it turns out, they do have a gang problem there, and it made me a total tool for joking about it.
On the same vein of being a total tool, but I wonder if the sleepy little town of Los Olivos in the Santa Ynez Valley has gangs. I mean, it's a small place, and I think it's unincorporated over there, so would that mean maybe they won't have gangs, but possibly some very passionate posses? Either way, would they have names for themselves? Maybe it's the Angelino(Angelina) in me, but if I had some sort of rival-type group and I lived in Los Olivos, I'd take the first two letters in the town's name and call it LoOl.
While having a conversation about vitamins, I wondered if/when I can ever converse or discuss things with my parents as adults. Sometimes it seems like we do...and it's not like I do appreciate the now and agains of checking in on me, telling me they love me, but it may be difficult to explain.
I don't know if I like Ladytron enough to see them at my favorite place to karaoke Thursday night. Then again, I think I should sleep a bit, but I can also nap beforehand...
Sure it has its time and place, but I'm slowly realizing how 35mm really truly doesn't do it for me anymore. That doesn't mean that I won't shoot in it, because I love all my toy cameras, but when I want to shoot shoot for projects of my own, nothing is more satisfying than shooting in medium format. It would be much easier shooting dance that way as well, at least, if shot 6x6 so there's no need to think about orientation. I'm too absent-minded with a Holga, and I looooove my TLR, but I need versatility. Dare I say it, but I'd love to get a medium format body...save up on lenses...and quite possibly just to keep up to speed with the kids when I'm old and withered but can afford it...a digital back (should I feel the need for one).
I would have said Polaroid back, but that's a bust now :(
