Maybe it's Time to Skip Town...*

...as in, the country.

This is the second time in a year I've been denied medical coverage.

I'm currently on a short-term plan, the monthly rate is decent, but it's kind of expensive if I want to do things such as take medications or see my doctor. I've just finished applying on appeal, and I called in today to find out that I was denied (again), and the decision was made today (I called at 1pm or so).

It kind of sucks. Even worse, the woman couldn't tell me why I was declined, and I just have to wait until the decline letters are sent to me in the mail, which they sent off today. I can appeal again, but that will take some time.

In the meantime, I'm overdue with some appointments, and I have meds that I need refilling that can't be done until I go in for a checkup. Even more concerning is that there is a slight possibility I may have something that may be not good in the future, and it needs to be monitored...my not having good insurance will kind of prevent that from happening.

Perhaps I finally need to make good with the promise to myself that if Bush gets re-elected, I'd move to Canada or Germany (even though he's out of office in a few months). Maybe I need a change of pace, anyway. I like British Columbia, and I'm sure I can pick up French pretty well. Maybe I'll head to England...

Or I can just stay here and file for a domestic partnership with my roommate. She's got THE BEST coverage through her union. They cover practically everything, and generic drugs are free! She's been trying to tell me that we should do it, and I tell her that maybe we should! Only, she's actually serious about it, and I'm not really.

...It shouldn't be hard to find some aspiring actor who happens to be Canadian and is having Visa issues, right? Maybe I need to make a gay, Canadian best friend who has found the love of his life but can't find a way to stay here and needs a gal to pretend he's in love with and get married so we can milk a dual citizenship.

Or I should just move there. Life would be fun...if I happen to be bored one day, I can just go to the doctor's and just some test done, like get my wrist x-rayed just to see how hairline fractured my wrist still is and junk...

*But I really need to leave this place, the sooner the better. I was thinking it would be great to leave as soon as my birthday weekend, but it seems that others have events that I guess I should be nice and attend...

You may have ruined your chances of getting that by the INS just by posting this entry. That said, do you really want date a Canadian? Even for pretend? I recommend against it.

We could form a tight group of literati and move to France! We'll learn French by reading the paper, and drink wine and eat cheese all day long!

We'll be the second incarnation of the ex-pat, lost generation intellectuals. All we need is a wealthy and generous benefactor. You can work on that.

City Elf: Thanks. I know things can be worked out; It's just a little too frustrating.

Messy house or not, it's fun just chilling at your place. We're going to need to utilize that PS2 you now own as well as that grill. Thankfully the 19th will be here before we know it.

Deceon: I have no worries about it; I have connections to the INS (and if you know people who need help getting in with the country, let me know). And no, I never said I'd want to date a Canadian - that's why I'd rather do someone the favor of finding one who needs US citizenship. I'm really banking on the gay situation.

Frank: You may be on to something. France has better food, and it's closer to Germany, which I'd prefer. How about Switzerland instead? They're tri-lingual for the most part there, and they have fondue!

I guess I'll stay at my work long enough to procure us a funder for such an endeavor.

Have I mentioned Switzerland still uses the Franc? Your name joking aside, it's weaker than the Euro.

Switzerland it is. I can't sing, though, you may have to take care of that throughout the rolling hills.

Corazon said...

Those are actually hills. Hills in Austria.

frank said...

Oh.

I'm sure they sang after the movie was over! Right? Right?

Corazon said...

Right, but they were still in Austria.

frank said...

You were!

Why yes, yes I was. Are we going to fight now? Fight like a signing fight?

PS - Switzerland doesn't really have much in the hills department. They're just full of abominable snow people-filled mountains.
