Five years ago, I was still in school. I was finishing up, working on my senior project, a performance and photo installation of my own for one show, rehearsing for two dance numbers of others for the same show, and a completely different installation for another show. That and I was working part time at Kung Fu.
I remember the moment I found out that we declared war on Iraq. I was in my apartment, and Jenny and Jackie were both there, too. I was in our room, and Jenny announced it from the living room.
I immediately rifled through my CDs and blasted this song from the boombox:
Jenny and Jack groaned when they realized what I was doing.
After all the protests and talks and town hall meetings I documented, attended and talked about with so many people, it's crazy to think that it's still happening. It was a trip to wake up to GW talking about it, too.
