I must be smelly, people don't like me, or I have very poor social skills, because this is the fourth night this week where I've failed to socially interact with people outside of my current living/working situation.
The closest thing I've had to that was having Nikki come over and get some food while she was "in the neighborhood" before heading back down to OC. Because our bookkeeper at work was late in getting here, we waited for her to realize we could just get some food to go and come back to wait for her. Essentially, that was social, but we wound up coming back here to eat.
Other attempts of people visiting, coming over to watch movie, going to have dinner, going to have dinner, going to see documentary/concert have always inexplicably failed, as if to say that I'm destined to spend my week up here alone and lonely with a weird dog and a bitch cat to keep me company. You don't know how much I look forward to the arrival of the housekeeper; which I'm usually happy to see her since I like talking to her, but even more important to have her here, so I have someone to talk to.
She's really concerned about me. Today was a pretty interactive, yet stressful day, having to try juggling a million peoples' schedules by calling and emailing, which is great having to communicate with people, rather than looking at images from long ago, as enjoyable as that actually is (but gets pretty lonely pretty quick). But I'm glad I did have people over, since the housekeeper came early enough to catch me in my pj's eating breakfast, but she left and Nikki came over, and later the bookkeeper. I was really excited at the chance of going out to dinner tonight since yesterday's plans fell through, but that didn't shape out, and I had the chance to go see some pretty good jazz, but that fell through because I didn't commit to it soon enough and it sold out.
So let's chalk a few up to fate, and a few to my lack of initiative. Maybe this is just a primer for my weekend, where I'll be bombarded with people (and zombies), and I'll be absolutely thrilled to be in company with people on a constant basis for more than a few minutes.
